the Haunting of Cold Harbor VA

One of the things, not too many people know about me is that I head up a local paranormal investigation group okay... a ghost hunting group. Our group has even been written about in the book Ghost Hunters of the South (yes a shameless plus) LOL Anyhow, when it comes to spirits and ghosts, I tend to be a hard core skeptic. I believe they exsit, HOWEVER, its rarely that I will openly proclaim a site as haunted without first having concrete proof in my own mind. Im not one to call every "orb" a ghost, nor any sound as a haunting without first eliminating EVERY other possible cause or reason. But there are certain places that I have been that I can honestly say....without any doubt in my mind.... are "haunted" because there is NO other possible reason for the events that take place there. And Cold Harbor Virginia is one of these such places....

Cold Harbor Battlefied carries with it one of the bloodiest and violent histories of any battleground in civil war History. Confined within a 3.5 mile area, this battlefield was the site of the death, wounding and capture of almost 13000 confederate and union soldiers and is ...IMO... without a doubt one of the most haunted areas I have ever investigated. What makes this place so unusual historically is that this battle took place within a relativily SHORT period of time and in an extremley confined space. It wasnt long and drawn out, it was hard, fast and extremely brutal compared to many of the other battles during this conflict,

The area is virtually unchanged and preserved and even if you arent into the "paranormal" its a beautiful place. Its not only hauntedby the spirits of those men that suffered and died there, but going into the area is like walking into the middle of a recorded movie that keeps rewinding itself and playing out the same scenes over and over again. This, however is not usual at sites where traumatic or emotional events take place. Its as if, the energy of the events soaks into the very ground and buildings leaving the area locked into that specific time or event.

The sights, sounds and energy contained within this area are to anyone..intense. There are areas and time when you can hear (physically) the sounds of the battles and the voices on the men. Even if you arent an empath, in tune with "spirits" or into any other psychic phenomenon....it can be overwhelming to say the least. And if you are open to "otherworldly" events, just steppin onto the paths can hit you with an overload of sensations, sights and sounds that include, rage, pain, fear, dispair and in certain spots a sense of peace.

Myself and a couple of group members routinely make annual visits to Cold Harbor, not to "investigate" as it were, but to leave specific offerings to the spirits that are there. I dont know why it is...but myself, I am called to this place on a regular basis and if I go too long without visiting it, I start to dream of it and it stays on my mind until I do. Hence why Im writing about it this morning... I have been hearing the "call" as it were LOL. Anyhow, if anyone is interested in some of the details of various experiences at Cold Harbor, let me know and Ill either post them or send them in a message.
